Why I Decided to Build Portfolio
I thought about creating a portfolio because whenever I had a client, went for a job interview, or applied for an online internship, people would ask me for screenshots of my projects, which I couldn't send to everyone.
This was causing me significant losses. So I thought, why not create a portfolio website where I would add all my details and also add projects that would benefit me. I would share a direct link with the client so they could see the project, my biodata, and client reviews.
That's why I saw the importance of a portfolio because it allows you to add everything the client company asks for. Just share the empty link and complete it.
Choosing the Design
Speaking of design, this is crucial. You need to understand this because many students, in an attempt to
look good, add too many animation effects, which causes their portfolio to load a lot and not open
properly.
The bottom line is that if you're a developer, you should keep your portfolio simple
and have minimal animation. However, if you're a graphic designer or UI/UX designer, your portfolio will
be a little different, with plenty of animation.
But it's even more important to keep your
portfolio design simple and well-designed, but also to make it responsive and user-friendly, without
unnecessary code. Do not add anything that may cause problems in the future, such as loading speed, and
it is very important to reduce your portfolio speed otherwise it can cause you a lot of loss.
Technologies I Used
Now the most important thing is which technology we will use. Many people do not know which technology we have to use in the portfolio. If I create a portfolio from scratch, then I will use HTML, CSS, JavaScript and react js. These are easy and fast, so it will be good to use them and I will recommend the same to you too, but if you want, you can create it without react js also because the portfolio is normal, it is up to you whether to do it or not, rest you can use Vercel for hosting.
Projects I Added
It is not necessary that whatever project I add, you should also add it to the portfolio. You will have to add the project as per your skills. If you add the project for someone else to see, then you will be the one who will face the problem because when you make the portfolio live or share it with any company client, then they will also see your project, due to which they can ask you those questions, if you do not answer them then you will be in trouble. Therefore, you should not add the projects that others or I have added. You have to do something unique, only then you will look unique in the crowd of 100 people. Anyway, I am a full stack developer. I have added full stack projects, you can add according to your skills.
Tips for Beginners
Inexperienced students face the most problems; they face a lot of problems. I want to tell you that you need to keep a few things in mind while creating your portfolio. If you are creating it for the first time, you should keep its design simple. Don't go for too much animation to make it attractive. Keep the portfolio simple and responsive. Ensure that it loads quickly on any device.
Once your portfolio is live, you need to stay active in it and then you can update it one by one because most students are trying to make it better. If I am not able to publish it then you do not have to do so, you can also update it slowly and add your contact details so that the client company can contact you easily.
